Wow! It's really happening. Just finalized the DEAL MEMO with my co-writer. We're on a schedule to finish the script by the end of the year. I gave him the first third this past weekend. It contains all the hand-written changes that were never added to the electronic version of the script. He's bringing it "up to code" and will do the same thing with the next two thirds. He really is a full partner in this. He believes in the story too, which is just great. And I'm trusting him with my baby because it just feels right. I will give another update after the next third gets submitted.

Finally! A plan to finish the script! YAY!

Well, this two-decade journey I've been on with "New Trinity Dawn" is finally coming to an end. Together with my backer and collaborator (an actual professional real-life director) I am going to finish the script. Final edits for Part I (thru page 40) will be completed by 10/22. Part II (thru page 80) will be completed by 11/19. And the final third (half of which is yet to be written) will be done by 12/17. So... we shall head into 2012 ready to start shopping it around. I can't say who we're connected to, but there are some big names (in the world of sci-fi fantasy, that is). Wish us luck!

Real-life (non-April 1st) Script Update: the current working copy of NEW TRINITY DAWN is now (finally) registered with the Writers Guild of America - took me long enough! Better late than never!

Also - I finally got myself upgraded to the latest version of my script-writing tool (Final Draft). Again: better late than never! =)

And just to make sure we're all on the same page (since I know some of you still thought DreamWorks had cut me a check for $3.7M), here was the "reveal" post I released on April 2nd: The Day After: Let's see, did they take down YouTube's "top viral videos of 1911"? Yup. Is the BETA version of "Gmail motion" (which claimed that simply by using your cam & a spacial tracking algorithm that you could handle all your Gmail with body gestures alone) still out there? Nope. And is LinkedIn still offering "People you might know" that includes J.R.R. Tolkein, Groucho Marx, and Robin Hood? It would appear not. So... OK... I must confess: please do consider what we've all just been through to be a dry run for a Highly Probable Future Event. Just think, when it really does happen it'll be like "deja vu all over again" (no really, it will).

Team -

Writer's Block set in with The Script many moons ago. I still believe in the project and still plan to complete it within the next 12 months (or sooner!). I'm trying not to be too hard on myself but clearly NOW IS THE TIME to get this thing done.

Goals for 2011-2012: finishing and then selling the NEW TRINITY DAWN script (yeah, the DreamWorks press release on Facebook was a 4/1 "gag" - and based on recent feedback, some of you may never have read the "reveal" post), getting into the best physical, emotional, and spiritual condition of my entire life, and taking lots of time to simply smell the roses.

What is "New Trinity Dawn"?

Hiya.

Well, it's the current working title of a sci-fi script that I started way back in 1991. Back then, it was called "VR World" (too 90s at this point - LOL!). Then it was called "VR World: Dawn of the New Trinity" (which was eventually shortened to just "Dawn of the New Trinity").

And now, I think we've finally landed on something really cool:

This blog won't become fully active until mid-Fall, 2009. It will chart the resurrection of the script and offer historic background ("proof") of the journey I've been on with this thing (yes, This Thing) since the early 90s. The funny thing is, it's at least 3/4 finished. And the ending is already charted. But it's sat for years. When I moved to Sedona in 2006, I dusted it off, got my fresh copy of 'Final Draft' which was the software I was using, and put some notes in the Tracking Log. But that was about it.

First derailment? Working 70+ hours a week for AT&T through the 90s and well into the 21st century (until mid-2006, actually). While it was exciting and most definitely financially rewarding, it didn't leave too much time for anything else.

So... that's it for now. See you sometime in mid-OCT, I would imagine.
